Damen Shipyards Gorinchem ontwerpt en bouwt een breed scala van schepen, zoals sleep- en werkboten, patrouillevaartuigen, loodsboten, snelle passagiersvaartuigen, alsmede zeegaande werkschepen, baggerschepen en vrachtschepen.
Jaarlijks worden aan een wereldwijde klantenkring ruim 160 schepen geleverd.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER (VIETNAM RESIDENCY)
Resident Engineer
The Resident Engineer Mechanical is an experienced professional engineer who will, on behalf of the Damen Shipyards Gorinchem (DSGo) Engineering, monitor and improve the work and workprocess at the local engineering site. Coaching and (organising) training for the local engineering is also a task for the Resident engineer, this in order to get the Mechanical Engineering skills of the local engineers to the required level for their task. The Resident Engineer is the first contact between local engineering and DSGo Engineering in case of issues and is expected to work on improvements/solutions.
Place in the organisation
The Resident Engineer is not
- the local manager for Engineering, this needs to be organised locally.
- responsible for the technical output of the local engineering group.
- responsible for the timing of the activities within the local engineering group.
The Resident Engineer is :
- the mediator/activator of local engineering work (first quality, then quantity) à “oil in the engine”.
- the communicator between local engineering and DSGo engineering à “ears & eyes” for DSGo.
Reporting
-
Daily support & reporting on contents to local Engineering Manager.

Communication directly with DSGo Project Managers Engineering.

Functional reporting to Engineering Managers DSGo.

The Resident Engineer belongs to the DSGo organisation Central Engineering (CE).
Experienced professional:
-
Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering (piping & installations).
-
Experience with CAD systems (CADmatic, ACAD).

Experience in making and reading technical specifications and drawings.
Teamplayer & Coaching skills:
-
Coaching, motivating and involving colleagues.

Monitor the workload and focus on result (quality first).

Good communicator (Dutch & English).
-
Manage and improve the relationship with the production (continuous cycle of sharing info and learning).

Pro-active looking for feedback from local parties (engineering, yard, ..) and use for future improvement.

Share knowledge.
Projectmanagement skills:
-
Monitor & support the local accepting and managing the progress of the detailed engineering work (in close co-operation with the local Engineering Manager and DSGo Project Managers Engineering).

Agree and monitor on the project planning (time and capacity).

Monitor and support the Change Management process.
